Please note; Hessian Tree Belt is a biodegradable product, it will rot away after 1 or 2 years. If your tree still needs to be supported after this time you will need to replace it. The beauty of using hessian is that it is biodegradable and will not pollute the environment.  More importantly, a lot of people forget to check on rubber tree belts! With Eucalyptus in particular, the stem increases in size really quickly and if a rubber or plastic tree belt is left on it can quickly strangle the tree and kill it. Additionally, young Eucalyptus trees do not produce bark until they are a few years old, the ‘skin’ on a young stem is called periderm and is a much softer tissue than bark (technically epidermis) and is easily damaged by harder rubber and plastic belts. This damage can lead to the formation of cankers which can also then kill your tree! We DO NOT recommend using rubber, plastic or wire tree belts with any Eucalyptus!
